Wiiiplayer or BBC iPlayer for Wii

Saturday, April 12th, 2008

The video download and streaming service that lets people catch up with BBC programmes is now a channel on the hugely popular game console Nintendo Wii. Early versions of the service is available since 9 April but more polished software will be released as the service developed.

According to BBC they are working to produce a whole host of Iplayer versions for various other game consoles as well as handheld devices.
It is already accessible on Apple’s iPhone and the iPod Touch though.

If you ‘re tired of sitting in front of the pc to watch your missed episodes and you own a Wii then Wiiiplayer is definitely a winner.

Adobe Media Player 1.0

Saturday, April 12th, 2008

Adobe launched the Adobe Media Player 1.0(AMP) into the heavy flooded media player market.

AMP UI

Adobe’s Media Player is a standalone Video box application that runs under the Adobe Integrated Runtime(AIR) platform.
The Media Player allows users to subscribe to various web channels and streams free content.

Adobe has partnered with a number of content providers such as CBS, PBS, MTV and more to bring more content but unlike iTunes, AMP is not right now a store and offers free and ad-supported content, but that might change in future according to Adobe to bring payment systems to offer purchase and rental options.

The Media Player is compatible with both PCs and Macs.
The player supports playback for FLV and h.264 encoded content up to Hi-Def quality.
Content may be available for streaming or download with and without DRM depending on the rights granted by the content providers.

If you looking to try something new you can give it a Go but presently I don’t think the world’s ready to move away from iTunes yet.
